Love of travel and love of home are not mutually exclusive: each time I travel abroad I return to the States appreciating America all the more.  

 

I grew up in Dallas, Texas, but it wasn’t until I had moved away that I made a point of visiting my hometown and walking around Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum, or finally going to the marvelous western art of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth. Too often we think that we need to travel across the country or to another continent to see history, art, and culture—the fact is, they’re right here.
